In just three short months, A Little R & R will be celebrating 8 years.
It’s hard to believe I’ve been blogging that long! But before you go through my archives to find my first post, well….it wont be there.
In fact, most of my old content isn’t here any longer, and there’s good reason for that.
A Little R & R wasn’t always called A Little R & R. In fact, in those early months my blog changed names so many times I can’t even remember all of them.
I recall that at one point I was a rambling missionary mom and a hippy missionary mom.
Finally I was a musing missionary mom – very proud of the brilliant alliteration, thinking I was so unique with the word “musing”, until I joined a blogging group and found out that every other blogger was musing as well.
This was when I finally decided to let my readers decide on a name – one that I’d stick with.
I put a few options out there, and even took some suggestions. And in the end, the readers voted for A Little R & R. A little play on my first name and my oldest son’s name.
Over the past 8 years, I’ve written on a variety of topics: motherhood, organizing, homemaking, marriage, and homeschooling….and a lot of randomness in between.
I’ve taken a lot of that content down, because early last year I realized that I could writing about a lot of things in a mediocre way, or I could write about what I am most passionate about – God’s Word.
And when I finally chose to narrow my writing down to God’s Word, quiet times, and spiritual living, my readership began to grow!
And I can still blog about some of these other topics, such as motherhood, homeschooling, and marriage through the prism of God’s Word.
So without further ado, here are my top 17 posts in 2017.
This was my first truly popular post. Amazingly, this was a post I wrote in a dream, and when I woke up I remembered my dream – which is remarkable because that almost never happens for me – and I sat down and wrote it, never knowing that it would be the post that would help to give my blog focus and direction.
After reading the book Fervent, by Priscilla Shirer, my eyes were opened to understanding how Satan works and strategizes against us as Christians. There was such clarity in understanding this, I had to sit down and write this post as an answer to a blogger question regarding prayer strategies.
This was a follow up to my #1 post in which I offer my readers free downloadable prayer cards to carry in their pocket.
So many times we don’t know where to start reading in the Bible. And it’s not always the best just to “start at the very beginning”. You don’t have to read the Bible starting at page one, because it’s a collection of books. You really can start in the middle, or even the end!
I loved writing this post! Do you need to refresh your Bible reading or quiet time? Here are some ideas for you.
Understanding our identity in Christ is so critical to our spiritual walk. Here are 10 verses that talk about that, and a set of printable cards.
Did you know that a war room doesn’t have to be a physical room? Here is what I did when I discovered that there was no room for me to have an actual war room.
This post is an excerpt from my dad’s latest book “Charis – the Power of Grace” – and is powerful and life-changing!
I’m so glad that this post made the cut. My weight loss journey has been long, filled with pot holes and reversals….and discoveries. One discovery I made was when I wrote this post – that my weight loss needed to start from within, answering the question “why do I eat?” The second discovery was made almost exactly a year later when I adopted a ketogenic lifestyle.
This post garnered some controversy, but I reflect on it often and what the Lord revealed to me about worship.
This was another post that has been pretty controversial, mainly because of how I chose to title it (which was purposeful), but those who look past the provocative title to understand what I was saying will know that this is exactly what the Bible says.
The war room is for battle. It’s why its called a war room. In this post I offer 10 verses on spiritual warfare, and a free printable download.
