The Book of Acts is one of my favorite books of the New Testament. It is an interesting book for a few reasons:
- It serves as a bridge between the Gospels and the Letters to the Churches
- It is where we see the Holy Spirit poured out on the church
- It is where we read about the Apostles fulfilling Christ’s commission
- It is where we find the Apostles actively evangelizing the Gentiles for the first time
The Book of Acts is filled with exciting stories of healings, miracles, prison breaks, and shipwrecks.
This is a book that challenges us to take our faith from a mere belief that Jesus exists and that He is the Son of God to a living faith that demands we share it with those around us.
Are we willing to be persecuted for our faith?
Are we willing to walk away from the comforts in this life to carry the gospel to other nations and people groups?
Are we willing to step out in faith to fulfill God’s call, trusting that He will provide for our every need?
Study the Book of Acts With Me

The author of the Book of Acts is Luke – the same Luke who wrote the Gospel of Luke.
You could say the Book of Acts is a sequel to the Gospel of Luke because Acts 1:1 is a continuation of Luke 24:53
Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen. Luke 24:51-53
The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me…Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
