The majority, if not all, of the Christians around the world can’t go to church.
Most people can’t remember an Easter Sunday when their church had to cancel services.
It’s about to be the weirdest Easter Sunday!
Pastors are doing all they can to find ways to keep their congregations encouraged…
Gospel singers are broadcasting live on social media…
Bloggers are offering Christian resources…
Certainly, the church is still active….the church is active, and yet the church doors are closed.
Dear sisters, this isn’t a time to panic, wring our hands, and say how much we miss our church.
We are the church.
You’re the church!
I’m the church!
This isn’t to say that we shouldn’t gather together in a central location as God’s church to singing His praises and be built up by the preaching of the Word.
Absolutely we should!
But God is giving us an opportunity right now, that we may never get any other way, to be exactly what He’s called us to be.
The church.
Last week, in our first week of our Psalm 91 study, we learned what the “secret place of the Most High” is and what that means to us in turbulent seasons of life.
If the secret place of the Most High isn’t a physical place – if it is in our heart, and if God’s tabernacle is in the hearts of man – we can only conclude one thing:
We are the church.
We have a divine opportunity right now, during this season when churches are shuttered for a season, to change our mentality of church.
To change our mentality from a consumer mentality to a serving mentality.
To stop viewing the church as our “filling station” and start viewing it as our “serving station”.
To stop looking to our pastor to feed us, and start learning to feed ourselves.
To fully grasp the understanding that the same Holy Spirit who speaks to our pastor as he reads the Word of God will speak to us as we read the Word of God.
To stop reading God’s Word with the voice of mortal man in our ear telling us what it says, but tuning into the voice of the Holy Spirit telling us what He is saying!
Dear sisters, if there ever was a time in human history for God’s children to move to a greater depth of maturity, now is the time!
If there ever was a time for God’s children to take a leap of faith and trust in God, His healing and provision, now is the time!
If there ever was a time for God’s children to be the church, carrying a message of hope to a confused, frightening, uncertain world, it is now!
The world is confused, but God is not the author of confusion! He has an answer. Already! Right now!
The world is frightened, but there is no fear in love. And God is love!
The future for many – if not most – is uncertain. But we serve a God of certainty. He already had an answer lined up before the chaos started.
It’s not the job of the pastor.
God has chosen to multiply His power and authority through the church….that’s you and me.
He has chosen to multiply His message of hope through the church…that’s you and me.
If the secret place of the Most High is in our hearts, if we are the tabernacle of God, if we are the church — then we have just been gifted with the greatest honor.
The question is, will we answer the call?
Dear sisters, we do not know how long this global crisis will last. Perhaps the coronavirus will blow over soon, but what will follow is uncertain economic times for at least a short while.
The world is looking for answers, and we have those answers.
The world is looking for hope and we have that hope.
The secret place of the Most High is in us, and the power of the Holy Spirit goes with us wherever we go.
Are we willing vessels for the Holy Spirit to pour out his hope to a hopeless world?
