Have you ever felt like life barely gives you time to catch your breath before another hard thing happens?

One trial ends…

Another begins.

Before you’ve recovered from one wave, another crashes over you.

Lately, that’s exactly how life has felt to me.

My dad used to call seasons like these “waves of adversity.”

I’ve always loved the ocean, so that picture has stayed with me.

One wave crashes against the shore…

Before it recedes, another follows.

Sometimes life feels exactly like that.

I’ve lived through seasons like that.

Years of chronic fatigue.

Miscarriages.

Depression.

Just when I thought the waves were calming…

Another one came.

Maybe you’ve been there too.

But a soldier can’t do that.

A soldier must not live at the mercy of his emotions. A soldier is a soldier despite his emotions and must – at all cost – keep victory in sight.

Battles don’t last forever.

Sometimes they seem to, and some battles are longer than others…and those are the ones we need to stay standing for the most!

Because there’s a reason why the enemy is fighting so hard.

There is always a price to pay for victory. It doesn’t come cheap…and the greater the victory the bloodier the battle.

5 Bible Verses to Build Your Faith

When you’re exhausted, you don’t need another motivational quote.

You need something stronger.

You need truth that doesn’t change when your circumstances do.

That’s why I come back to God’s Word.

I’ve learned something over the years.

Faith doesn’t grow because I convince myself everything will be okay.

Faith grows as I remember who my Father is.

The more I know Him…

The more I trust Him.

Over the years, these five passages have anchored my heart when life felt overwhelming.

1. Mark 11:23-24

Jesus reminds us that faith looks beyond what we can see.

When mountains stand in front of us, He calls us to trust God’s power more than our circumstances.

“Whoever says to this mountain…”

2. John 14:12-14

Jesus invites us to pray with confidence because we come to the Father in His name.

These verses remind me that prayer isn’t about convincing God to act. It’s about trusting the heart of a Father who delights in answering according to His will and for His glory.

“Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do…”

3. 2 Corinthians 5:1-9

Faith isn’t anchored in what we can see—it is anchored in what God has promised.

Paul reminds us that this life is temporary, but our hope is eternal. When we keep eternity in view, our present struggles begin to lose their power to discourage us.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

4. Joshua 1:8-9

When Joshua was preparing to lead Israel into the Promised Land, God didn’t tell him to trust in his own strength.

He told him to stay rooted in God’s Word. Courage grows as we meditate on Scripture and remember that God is with us wherever we go.

“Be strong and of good courage… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

5. Philippians 4:11-13

One of the greatest lessons of faith is learning that Christ is enough.

Paul wasn’t writing these words from a place of comfort but from a place of dependence. His confidence wasn’t in his circumstances—it was in the strength Christ supplied every single day.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
