In December 2024 I wrote a post “Western Christianity is Crumbling“, and less than one month into 2025 it continues to crumble.
There are well-known ministers who accuse those speaking out of destroying the ministry, gossip, and being “accusers of the brethren”.
Just as in the times of Jeremiah, the religious leaders persecuted the prophets, imprisoned them, and sometimes even killed them.
These prophets were speaking words the religious leaders did not want to hear.

In Jeremiah, we read that he brought prophesies against Jerusalem and all of Judah; prophesying that if they didn’t repent and turn from their idolatrous ways, God would send them into captivity.
This was unthinkable to the religious leaders, so they persecuted him.
And we’re seeing a similar situation happen today.
Underneath the glossy image of Christian celebrity lies a pit of corruption so deep that there are times I feel the words of Jeremiah deep in my soul:
My heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake, I am a druken man, and like a man whom wine has overcome.
Jeremiah 23:9
The grief I have felt these weeks is deep and my heart weeps because the global church has embraced a false and corrupted doctrine.
It is a doctrine that has opened wide the door for immorality, pagan and New Age practices, the love of money, the elevation and worship of man, and every kind of evil.
God has sent voices to warn the church, and the response was to kill the message and the messenger with accusations of “legalism” and “accuser of the brethren”.
And now the voice of the Lord booms above the stage lights, smoke machines, broadcast signals, and beautifully crafted sermons on how to live your best life as He shouts
ENOUGH!
His house has been defiled with immorality as we have tolerated fornication and adultery calling it a “mistake”.
The church has turned a blind eye to no-fault divorce, claiming that God’s desire for our happiness is greater than His design for marriage – distorting His holy image of Christ and the church.
She has looked the other way when church leaders have repeatedly imbibed substances to the point of intoxication.
She has pretended not to notice when so-called prophets used social media to data-mine for their false prophesies and shipwrecked the lives of those who believed them.
Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the LORD.
I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran. I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in My counsel, And had caused My people to hear My words, Then they would have turned them from their evil way And from the evil of their doings.
have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in My name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’ How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart,
Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” says the LORD, “who steal My words every one from his neighbor. Behold, I am against the prophets,” says the LORD, “who use their tongues and say, ‘He says.’ Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” says the LORD, “and tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies and by their recklessness. Yet I did not send them or command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all,” says the LORD.
Jeremiah 23:16, 21-22, 25-26, 30-32
She has elevated Christian celebrities to grotesque levels of wealth by way of robbing the poor, the widowed, and the orphaned through the worst kind of spiritual manipulation…
As these millionaire ministers make promises of returned blessings for sending them all the money you have.
Afterward, they boast of their private jets, luxurious furnishing, and exotic vacations while their donors live hand-to-mouth, paycheck to paycheck, unaware that instead of being shepherded, they have been fleeced.
God’s house is defiled, and he is coming to judge the prophets and clean His house.
“For both prophet and priest are profane; yes in My house I have found their wickedness,” says the Lord, “Therefore their ways shall be to the like slippery ways; in the darkness they shall be drive on and fall in them; for I will bring disster on them, the year of the punishment,” says the Lord.
And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria:they prophesied by Baal and caused My people Israel to err. Also I have seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: they commit adultery and walk in lies; they also strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns back from his wickedness. All of them are like Sodom to Me, and her inhabitants like Gomorrah.
Jeremiah 23:11-14
How Can We Avoid This Time of God’s Judgment?
As hard as these times are for His church, God always preserves a remnant. He always keeps for Himself those who have not been defiled by idolatry and evil.
He will protect His remnant; she will not come under his judgment and wrath.
1. Love the Lord Your God With all Your Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength
It is not enough that we know the Bible or that we can quote lots of Scripture, Bible stories, and Christian doctrine.
James said that even the devil believes and trembles.
We have to love the Lord our God with every part of our being so that the Word of God is the core of who we are.
The judgment we’re seeing on the house of God right now is a direct result of Christian leaders who loved the world and the things of this world more than they loved God.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:15
2. Be a Doer of the Word
When we’re a doer of the Word, the Word of God becomes a mirror that reflects the true state of our hearts.
This is so important to our Christian walk because it gives God an opportunity to cleanse our hearts of those things that defile us.
The amount of light in our lives is in direct proportion to the amount of darkness we allow to stay there.
If we don’t allow the mirror of God’s Word to reveal our hearts, and if we fail to be doers of the Word, our hearts will accumulate darkness to the point that the light of God will no longer shine through us at all.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:22-25
3. Seek God’s Face, Not His Hand
I can’t help but to notice that every single ministry that is falling is a result of seeking something from God, and not seeking God alone.
God alone isn’t enough for them.
They need money, celebrity, prophesies, words, signs, gold dust and gems, “drunkenness in the Spirit”, miracles, emotions, music, atmosphere — and the list goes on and on.
These things have become a drug to them, and when they’ve reached a tolerance level, the need to amp up the feeling of God’s presence becomes greater.
And thus the antics have reached far outside the boundaries of Scripture and into the realm of the New Age and paganism…
To places where the Holy Spirit is not present.
We weren’t meant to chase a feeling and manifestation, we were meant to seek God’s face.
When we seek God’s face, we can stop running and chasing, and simply rest in Him.
And whether He comes in fire and explosive manifestation or He chooses to come in a calm and peaceful atmosphere….
or whether we go through seasons where we may feel nothing at all, we can rest in assurance that He is with us, because we are content to seek HIM, not what we can get from Him.
Dear sister, I know these are hard words. The book of Jeremiah is a hard word – it is why he is called the weeping prophet.
He was sent to call the nation of Judah to repentance, and sadly that did not happen at that time.
May we not be like the people of Judah.
May we heed the Word of the Lord – the Scripture – that calls us to purity and holiness, righteous living, justice, and a singular heart for the Lord!
