For the past several years, I’ve asked myself why we spend at least two months celebrating Christmas but only celebrate Easter for a few weeks.
When it comes to Christmas, it is so easy to find decorations that celebrate Jesus’ birth, but it’s almost impossible to find Easter decorations that celebrate His resurrection.
Almost all Easter decorations are eggs and bunnies.
During Christmastime, you hear Christmas carols everywhere singing about Christ’s birth, but there are no Easter carols that sing about His resurrection.
To be sure, Jesus’ birth is one of the greatest miracles in human history.
Almighty God humbled Himself and became a man, choosing to be born as a helpless baby in a stable to young Mary and Joseph – who were simple people.
He chose not to be born into opulence but into the most ordinary of circumstances.
But that is not the end of the story.
His birth did not purchase our salvation. His birth is not what set us free.
If we only celebrate His birth but fail to realize the full significance of Christ’s work is His death, burial, and resurrection, we fail to understand the purpose of Him coming to earth at all!
That is why I want to invite you to join me for a special Easter study!
