Have you heard the phrase, “I love Jesus, but I don’t love His people,” or “The church is just made up of hypocrites”?
Maybe you’ve made a similar comment.
I grew up in the church, so I can understand how the church can hurt people because it has hurt me many times.
Some years ago, I went on a journey of learning to love the church God’s way.
While I walked through my own disappointment and anger, I learned something: It’s not just probable that the church will hurt you, it’s certain.

To be more precise, if you are a part of a community, whether in the church or the world, you will be hurt.
The good news is, this is normal.
The bad news is, this is normal.
The question is, how will you respond?
Learning to Love the Church God’s Way
John told us that if we say we love God but at the same time hate people, we are liars and the truth is not in us.
Those are difficult words!
To say the truth is not in us is a little harsh, but what John is saying is that if we really do love God, really, truly, 100% authentically love God, then we will naturally love people.
But this kind of love is not natural.
This is not a kind of love that we have on our own.
This is a love that only God can give, because this is a love that is a part of God’s nature.
So, how can we learn to love the church after we’ve been hurt and disappointed?
We allow God to plant a part of Himself in us, so we can nurture it and allow it to grow in us.
Isn’t that fascinating?
God literally takes a part of Himself and puts it in us and enables us to supernaturally love people in the way He loves people, so that we can show them His nature in and through our lives.
Powerful!
That is why I want to take you on a 14-day journey of learning to love the church God’s Way.

We will begin a study starting January 26 called 14 Days of Agape – Learning to Love the Church God’s Way.
The workbook for this study will be free inside our closed Good Morning in the Girls study groups.
