The diet culture has warped how we think about food and our bodies. Here are 10 powerful Bible verses that will renew our mind about food. #alittlerandr #bible #food #diet #renewingthemind

Do you struggle with your relationship to food?

For many, the battle with weight-loss is more internal. It is more spiritual than it is physical; because we fail to turn to our true source of comfort – Jesus Christ – and make food our comfort instead.

So, for those who find themselves battling food more in the mind; who find themselves craving food more than God, there needs to be a renewing of the mind.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

Renewing the mind isn’t some complicated thing that only seasoned Christians understand. It is quite simple…and yet it requires discipline and determination.

10 Powerful Verses to Renew Your Mind About Food

We renew our mind by first memorizing verses and passages of Scripture that are appropriate to the battle we are fighting.

Then we take those verses and think deeply about them: word by word, gleaning every ounce of meaning out of the verse or passage that we can.

We then personalize the verse – finding ways to make it apply to our current situation.

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”

“Rosilind is not a one-dimensional being. She is a tri-part being. She will NOT live out of her emotions, and therefore will try to fill her desires with physical food, but will fill her desires with the Word of God – spiritual food that satisfies forever!”

What I like about these verses is that they do not demonize food or eating.

We need to get away from that in our culture! Food isn’t bad, it is good and necessary for our physical well being.

It is how we use food that can be good or bad.

Even in the Keto community, there is a tendency to label foods as good or bad. I would never classify a natural, whole food as either good or bad.

(Though, I don’t seen anything wrong with labeling chemically-laden, man-made foods as bad, because they are. They’re worse than bad – they are lethal!)

These verses take the focus off of food and make Jesus our focus!

1. Matthew 4:4

But He answered and said, ‘It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

2. Matthew 15:11

Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.

3. 1 Corinthians 8:8-9

But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse. But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak.

4. 1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

5. John 4:34

My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

6. John 6:35

I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

7. Matthew 6:25

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

8. 1 Corinthians 10:31

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

9. Matthew 5:6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

10. John 6:27

Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.
