25 Years After 9-11, and We Keep Ignoring God’s Warnings

I’ve been reading through the book of Amos lately, and it’s difficult not to notice some sobering parallels between Israel’s spiritual condition before judgment and what we’re seeing in America today.
Israel was prosperous. They enjoyed luxury, entertainment, and pleasure. Yet underneath the prosperity was increasing injustice, idolatry, lawlessness, and a growing rejection of God’s standards.
And perhaps most disturbing of all, they were still worshiping God—but God said their worship had become noise.
Twenty-five years ago, America was shaken by 9/11. Churches were filled with people looking for answers. Since then, we’ve experienced disasters, cultural upheaval, increasing immorality, political division, and a church that too often looks to personalities, politics, prosperity, and entertainment rather than Christ.
I’m not suggesting that every disaster is a specific judgment from God.
But I do believe the Church needs to ask a serious question:
Are we listening?
God has always sent messengers to call His people back to Himself.
And our hope isn’t found in a politician, a movement, a celebrity pastor, or a prophetic voice promising blessing.
Our hope is found in Jesus Christ.
Maybe it’s time to stop looking for someone else to save America and start asking God to search our own hearts.
