Do anxious thoughts ever keep you awake at night?
Maybe your mind constantly races through worst-case scenarios.
- What if something happens to my child?

Before long, one fearful thought becomes twenty.
And your peace disappears.

I’ve been there.
For years, anxiety was one of my greatest struggles.
But one of the most powerful tools God used to help me overcome anxious thoughts was praying Scripture.
Instead of praying my fears, I learned to pray God’s promises.
And slowly, my mind began to change.

Why Pray Scripture for Anxiety?
The Bible contains hundreds of verses that remind us:
✔ God is with us
✔ God is in control
✔ God cares for us
✔ God is faithful
✔ We do not have to live in fear
When we pray Scripture, we aren’t simply repeating words.
We’re agreeing with God’s truth and allowing His Word to renew our minds.
As we do, our thoughts begin to align with what God says instead of what fear says.
The following Scripture prayers are designed to help you move from anxious thoughts to biblical truth, one prayer at a time.
Below are five of my favorite Bible verses to pray when anxiety begins to overwhelm my thoughts. As you pray them, don’t rush through the words. Slow down, personalize them, and allow God’s truth to quiet your heart.
1. Psalm 55:22
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you…” Psalm 55:22
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I know You are for me and not against me. Today I take this burden (name your burden) and place it into Your hands. I refuse to carry it any longer. Thank You for sustaining me, strengthening me, and caring for me. Help me trust You with what I cannot control. Amen.
2. 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear…” 2 Timothy 1:7
Prayer
Father, I know this fear is not from You. You have given me power, love, and a sound mind. Help me reject fearful thoughts and receive the peace and strength that come from Your Spirit. Teach me to walk in confidence and trust instead of fear. Amen.
3. Psalm 56:3
“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalm 56:3
Prayer
Father, whenever fear rises in my heart, help me use it as a reminder to trust You. I believe You are faithful, good, and working all things together for my good. Strengthen my faith and help me keep my eyes fixed on You. Amen.
4. John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you…” John 14:27
Prayer
Father, thank You for giving me Your peace. Today I choose not to allow my heart to be ruled by fear. Fill me with Your supernatural peace and help me rest in the knowledge that You are in control. Amen.
5. Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save…” Zephaniah 3:17
Prayer
Father, quiet my anxious heart with Your love. Remind me that You are with me, that You are mighty to save, and that I never face life’s battles alone. Help me rest in Your presence and find comfort in Your love today. Amen.
