Have you ever felt anxiety take over your entire body?
Your heart races.
Your chest tightens.
Your thoughts spiral out of control.
And suddenly, one fearful thought becomes a hundred.
I’ve been there more times than I can count.
Anxiety has a way of turning “what if” into something that feels completely real — even when it never happens.
And afterward?
You feel emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, and drained.
One of the biggest ways I’ve learned to fight anxiety is by filling my mind with Scripture.
Because fear grows loud when we let anxious thoughts replay unchecked.
But God’s Word helps us:
✔ Replace fear with truth
✔ Calm anxious thoughts
✔ Refocus our minds on Christ
✔ Find peace in the middle of overwhelming moments
That’s why I created this free printable of Bible verses for anxiety.
Below, you’ll find 10 powerful Scriptures that help me fight fear, calm anxious thoughts, and renew my mind when anxiety tries to take over.

The enemy loves to attack our thoughts.
He takes one fearful “what if,” builds an entire story around it, and replays it in our minds until it feels real.
If we don’t fight back with truth, anxiety can quickly consume our thoughts and pull us into fear, worry, isolation, and hopelessness.

“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.”
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
(This is the verse I come back to most when my thoughts start spiraling.)
4. Psalm 94:19
“In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.”
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
(I love praying this verse out loud when fear feels overwhelming.)
6. Psalm 56:3
“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.”
7. Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”
(this is a great one when you fight nighttime anxiety)
9. John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
10. Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
(This verse reminds me that God’s response to us is tenderness, not condemnation.)
If you want to go deeper, these passages are powerful:
