The book of Judges is a very sobering book of the Bible that traces the history of the nation of Israel after Joshua had died.
The people had the Law of God and He had appointed judges to lead the people, but they did not walk in the ways of the Lord.
Instead, it says, “In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”
What was right for me may not be right for you; and what is right for you may not be what is right for me.
In other words, no absolutes.
But we can take this even further for those who do believe in absolute truth.
Rather than seeking God, there are those who look at a situation and chose what they feel is the most logical direction.
They don’t feel the need to seek God’s wisdom for every detail of life; rather, they believe that there are details that God doesn’t care how we choose one way or the other.
That he leaves parts of our life to our discretion.
But if you read the Bible, you see that this is simply not so!
Proverbs 12:15 says, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise.” And in Proverbs 21:2 it says, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts.”
No, we are not to do what seems most logical to us.
Man’s logic is completely upside down to God’s wisdom! Instead, we are to seek God’s wisdom for every area of our life.
But to understand God’s wisdom, we must become renewed in our mind – so that our thoughts and values align with his.
That is why I wrote the series of posts listed below on renewing the mind and offer the resources I do on my blog — so that we seek godly wisdom and counsel from his Word to live our life.
