I’ve been walking with the Lord for nearly 50 years, and I must admit that one of the spiritual disciplines I have found so hard to master is prayer.
While it seems so simple at first, we find ourselves complicating it.
The more complicated it becomes, the more we find ourselves avoiding it – and to our own peril.
Or it becomes one of the things we check off of our “Christian activity” checklist.
“There! I prayed for 1/2 hour”
What if there could be great joy in prayer? What if we could wake up each morning excited to meet with God?
What if we could prayer prayers that bring about answers and miracles?
What if prayer wasn’t a duty, but a privilege?
10 Bible Verses on Prayer – Free Download
God’s great desire for us is that we move beyond prayer being a task that we check off of our list into a realm where prayer is as natural as breathing.
That we pray throughout the day. That we live praying.
God doesn’t need our prayers to move. He is almighty; He can do miracles, provide, heal, and move in a million different ways among mankind independent of us.
He doesn’t need us. We need Him.
But while He doesn’t need us, He invites us in. He chooses to allow us to partner with Him in this precious relationship called prayer.
Prayer is more for us than for Him.
Because when we pray and see answers to those prayers, it builds our faith. It strengthens our walk with Him. It deepens our relationship with Him.

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
4. Psalm 145:18
The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.

6. Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
7. James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
8. Psalms 18:6
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
9. Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
10. 1 John 5:14-15
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
